NAPLES – Naples is a city of records, the Italian Sofiia Yaremchuk (CS Army) with 1h08’27” breaks the new Italian half marathon record. With an exceptional ride, Brian Kwemoi Kirui makes the gap and wins in 59’26”, equaling the course record. The podium was completed by compatriots Anthony Kimtai in 59’45” and Bernard Kipkurui Biwott in 59’47”. For Italy, the Italian Yassine Rachik (GS Fiamme Oro Padova) is first in 1h05’14” followed by Raffaele Giovannelli (ASD International Security) in 1h06’47” and Alessandro Zanga (La Recastello Radici Group) in 1h07’55 ”.
The ride of the Kenyan Angela Tanui was all solo and she concluded her efforts in 1h07’04” followed by the Italian Sofiia Yaremchuk (CS Army) who finished in 1h08’27” achieving the same time as Nadia Ejjafini’s Italian half marathon record. Napoli City Half Marathon thus holds the Italian men’s and women’s records. Third place for Nancy Chepleting Meli who gives in at the end and finishes in 1h10’03”.
